BRILLIANT BRITS: SHAKESPEARE
SHORTLISTED FOR
BLUE PETER AWARD 2004

NEW SERIES LAUNCHED 2003

I’m working hard on this series. Each book is about a famous British person.
DAVID BECKHAM was one of the first. Did you know he never argues with the referee because his Gran can lip read?
She watches all his games on TV and tells him off if he she sees him say anything she thinks is rude!

‘STORIES FROM BRITISH HISTORY’
SHORTLISTED FOR BLUE PETER AWARD 2002

‘ Best New Book of Information’

If you saw the Blue Peter Award programme on December 15th, you’ll know that the winner of The Best New Book of Information was Ada Lovelace, the Computer Wizard of Victorian England by Lucy Lethbridge.
But STORIES FROM BRITISH HISTORY, which I illustrated, is a brilliant series written by Geraldine McCaughrean who already has three Blue Peter Awards, including Overall Winner last year. Geraldine has also won the Whitbread, Carnegie, UKRA, Smarties, Beefeater Awards and countless other awards. I already felt as if I’d won a prize when I was asked to do the illustrations for some of her books so I wasn’t too disappointed!
